Specialization (30 credits)

- 257:569 Civics, Citizenship and Social Values
- 257:664 Social Studies Education Practicum
- 257:665 Independent Study in Social Studies Education
At least 12 credits in history and/or the social sciences from the Graduate School of Liberal Arts
Research Methods: 9 credits taken from at least two of the following three areas:
- Quantitative research in education
- Qualitative research in education
- Program evaluation in education
Foundations: (9 credits), 3 credits in each of the following areas:
- Educational policy/leadership
- Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education
- Psychological Foundations of Education
Ed.D. Qualifying Examination: Doctoral qualifying examinations are normally given to students at the completion of their course work to assess the breadth and depth of the knowledge they have acquired in their studies.
Doctoral students must register for a minimum of 24 research credits during dissertation study.
