Ed.M. Certification Program in English Education
Program Home Faculty Degree Requirements Admissions Other Info

The joint master's degree/certification program in English Education is designed for individuals who possess a baccalaureate degree in English or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education and who wish to pursue certification and a master's degree in education at the same time. Certificates are recommended only in conjunction with the completion of the requirements for the Ed.M. degree.

The program has three major goals:

  1. To encourage students to articulate and critique their vision of the teaching of English;
  2. To help students develop a repertoire of instructional strategies that will help them enact that vision in the classroom; and
  3. To provide field experiences that will allow students to bring the research and theory they have studied into practice.
