The five-year M.Ed. in social studies education combines graduate/professional study with a student’s undergraduate degree, resulting in an Ed.M. degree and teaching credential. Students begin taking courses in the Graduate School of Education as early as their sophomore year in college, and begin taking courses in the Social Studies Education Program in the spring semester of their senior year. Student teaching takes place the fall after graduation, and students graduate from the program the following spring.
Only Rutgers University students in their junior year with the appropriate number of credits are eligible to apply for this program. See the program description for further details and requirements.
