Looking for a good read this summer? Pick up Rutgers graduate, Pulitzer Prize winning Junot Diaz’ The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.*
This fiction book is an energetic, illuminating, and powerful saga of an immigrant Dominican family in New Jersey and is the summer reading choice of TIMA (GSE Student Group Teachers Initiative for Multi-America). Several of the main characters are Rutgers students, and Diaz’ novel will prompt discussions about literacy, higher education, family legacies of growing up under Trujillo’s dictatorship, and more.
We have invited Junot Diaz to the GSE in the fall of 2008 to talk about his book and answer questions from faculty and students.
Books for loan available in GSE room 219 between 10 AM to Noon.
